Exploring Biodome in Montreal

Biodome
Happy kids!
Remember we spent the weekend in Montreal for Father's Day? Our Family Fun Weekend included surfing at Maeva, and the day before we went to Biodome, the Botanical Gardens and the Insectarium in Montreal. All three are part of the Espace Pour la Vie, and it's hard to pick a favourite!

J and I had been to Biodome a couple years ago but this was the kids' first time. It's really neat.. kind of like a zoo or a museum but there are live animals in different habitats that you get to walk through. First up was the tropical rainforest where we saw fish, monkeys, a sloth, and huge birds.

This pink bird was mesmerizing.
Then there was the Maple Forest, which is much like home with animals we're used to seeing. What was really fun was watching the otters and being able to look underwater.

Sleepy raccoons.

Giggling at the bird feet paddling through the water.
The Gulf of St. Lawrence is where the big fish are. I can't get over how big a sturgeon is!

Isn't that a huge fish?

Labrador Coast is big and open with birds flying over head.

The Sub-Polar Region is my favourite because of the penguins. I could watch them all day.

Arms out!
We also explored the basement where the collection is housed. Lots and lots of animals and information there. We found Hedwig, Harry Potter's owl!

So glad we got to explore Biodome with the kids. They both said their favourite part was the penguins. If you're ever in Montreal definitely check it out!

Dislcaimer: A huge thank you to Espace pour la vie for the tickets to Biodome, the Botanical Gardens and the Insectarium for me and my family. All opinions are my own.
