Last day of preschool/school

School's out for summer!
It's summer vacation!

Every time we hit a milestone - a big or small one - I think to myself, "baby gates down!" Last week was a major one: my little man is done kindergarten and my baby girl is done preschool. I'm not one to get emotional, but this almost got me. They're getting so big!

Ready for JK!
Little K was first up, her preschool ended the week before school did. She was happy but I was a little sad to say goodbye to her teachers, who were so good to her, taught her so much and pushed her, and all her little friends. She'll have some familiar faces in JK next year.

Little J wanted in on the pictures.
All of a sudden it was the last day of school. We were at the bus stop before I remembered that I wanted to take Little J's picture. I had to settle with a quick snap of the kids in the stroller at the bus stop (double stroller: best purchase!)

Along for the ride.
Normally after school is a bit tough - everyone is hungry and cranky - but on the last day of school we were all smiles and I was able to redeem myself (in the world of documenting milestones in my kids' lives) and get pictures of my little man.

All done with kindergarten!

He's getting so big!
And of course Little K wanted her picture taken too.

All ready for summer!
Little J had a great year and, even if he says he's scared, I know he's more than ready for grade 1. He had great teachers (an English and French teacher) and ECEs (2 with each teacher), made a lot of friends, and learned a lot. He's still bristling that he and his friends didn't get to do their play, but he's happy it's summer.

Am I happy it's summer? It's been challenging so far because we're all adjusting to being around each other all day (and Little J is missing his friends and likely the lack of structure). We will hit our stride soon enough. I'm looking forward to some down time and don't miss the morning rush to get everyone ready and out the door for the bus. We have some fun things planned and will fill our days with trips to the local parks and playdates with friends. Not too shabby!
