2014 - A Year in Review

It's a new day and a new year! Time for new beginnings and resolutions. But before I get to my goals for 2015, I wanted to take a look back at 2014. It was a great year and I love having a post that ties it all together. Let's take a look back.

Last JANUARY was a month full of goals for the year and a look back at the books I read. While J was gone I repainted his bathroom as a surprise and spent some quality time with Little J who stayed up way too late with me. I also celebrated my 33rd birthday.

Despite being really chilly, FEBRUARY was full of outside activities. Things like snowboarding, ice racing and more ice racing, and Shiverfest in Manotick. There was Valentine's day and Little K's birthday and moving Little K to her big girl bed. I also read a book about simplifying and tried to make some changes to our life.

The big excitement in MARCH was our cruise (here and here) and then J away for 2 weeks. I celebrated 10 years of blogging and world doula week. We did St Patrick's Day and went to the car show.

APRIL was all about getting out of the house. I went to the Women's Show and BConnected Conference just me and took Little K to Kidsfest. We celebrated Easter and I started making jewelry under Tiny Feet Creations.

In MAY I ran my first race of the year and we all ran a 1K at the Manotick Miler. I had some fun blogging events like the We Create Change tour and checking out the Museum of Nature's Glowing My Way? exhibit. I made Little K's piggy bank. We celebrated Mother's Day and that Little J learned to bike on his own. The kids wanted to be like their dad and gave themselves tattoos. J and I went out to Nature Nocturne and Little J's classmates decorated the black car.

JUNE was a big month for me because I spent a weekend away from the kids when I went to a Doula retreat. It was a big month for Little J too when he went to his first solo birthday party and finished his first year of school. We went to Touch a Truck, the kids ran a 1K race (Wee Ones and Big Strides) and we celebrated J on Father's Day.

JULY was a great summer month. We spent the first weekend at the cottage, celebrated Canada Day, and spent a day at the track. I committed to morning exercise and I saw the new bridge up close and personal. J and I celebrated our 10th anniversary and we took the kids to the plane museum and Calypso.

AUGUST was a busy month. J and I snuck away to Montreal for our 10th anniversary. We spent a weekend at the cottage with friends and a week there with J's family. We went to the Shrine Circus, to Almonte for Puppet's Up!, and to a little airport for Race the Runway. I took the kids to one of the City of Ottawa's summer celebrations where we had a great time and I talked about breastfeeding during World Breastfeeding Week.

Before school started in SEPTEMBER, I took the kids on many adventures. We went to Little Ray's Reptile Zoo, SkyZone, the train museum, and the farm. Then it was time for the first day of SK and preschool and Little J's birthday. We had fun at the soap box derby in Manotick but Little J was upset he isn't old enough to make his own car.

In OCTOBER we discovered Abby Hill Farm's pumpkin patch and petting zoo. I wrote about International Day of the Girl , Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day, and the crazy lock down
we had in Ottawa. Little K and I went to the butterfly show and she was so scared. And then we had Thanksgiving weekend.

We got out lots in NOVEMBER. We went to the Dinosaur museum and the plane museum, we played in the leaves and played in the snow. I went to the Women's Show and talked about World Prematurity Day. We had Remembrance Day and Halloween and we bought the little blue/green car.

DECEMBER was the month of Christmas and sickness. We did our advent activities, had our flu shot fiasco, Little K's preschool fun day, Little J's concert, and of course Christmas. Little J had his belt test in karate and showed that he really knows his stuff.

I'm looking forward to an even bigger 2015!
