Remembering the babies ~ Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day

My story of loss is a short one. I knew I was pregnant for only two weeks before the bleeding started. I experienced an early miscarriage, but I've learned over time that no matter when loss happens, it hurts.

It can hurt after a while of not hurting. It can hurt out of the blue, bringing tears for seemingly no reason.

Loss affects us all. It may look different on the outside, but inside we hurt.

Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. Tonight at 7pm I will light a candle to remember my baby who didn't make it and all the babies. I will think of what could have been and I will probably cry. (Let's be honest, I'm crying right now.)

If you need to talk, you can talk to me. I will listen.

And if you don't feel like talking, here are some resources you can look at when you're ready:

The Pregnancy and Infant Loss Network is a Canadian charity supporting families who have experienced loss. http://www.pailnetwork.ca/
Stillbirthday is a great resource for every kind of loss. http://www.stillbirthday.com/
CHEO has a guide with online and local Ottawa resources. http://www.cheo.on.ca/En/griefbereavement
A site about loss and reproductive health. http://www.crl-rho.org/en/index.php
Bereavement programs in Ottawa. http://www.champlainhealthline.ca/listServices.aspx?id=10162&region=Ottawa
Bereavement support in Ottawa. http://www.bfo-ottawa.org/index.shtml

You are not alone. I'm so sorry for your loss.
