Road to Bliss

We had a great time at our local Canada Day celebration this afternoon and now I'm taking a break from the heat in the cool cool A/C. Let me tell you about a fun event I went to two weeks ago. It was called the Road to Bliss.

It's not every day that I get dressed in nice clothes including a big, fancy necklace, and go out. But after Little J's school BBQ, I did just that! I headed to Kanata and the Brookstreet Hotel for Blissdom Canada's Road2Bliss party.

Blissdom Canada is a huge blogging conference taking place in October in Toronto. I really wanted to go last year but had a doula client due around then.. same thing this year. But I get to go to the parties when they come to town. At these tweetups I get to catch up, in person, with all my blogging friends.

It's me all dressed up and out for the night!
I remember heading downtown for the tweetup last year without knowing anyone. I kinda sat back and listened in on some conversations. Well, let me tell you the difference a year (and a few more of these events) makes! When I got to the party Thursday night, I recognized almost everyone in the room and got hugs from a few. It was constant catching up all night with some princess party dress play thrown in. There were snacks and drinks, fun talks, and loud music.

Dresses from Rent Frock Repeat.
Playing dress up was because Rent Frock Repeat was on site. Have you heard of them? It's a company out of Toronto that rents designer dresses. It makes so much sense and I want to tell everyone who needs a dress for a wedding or fancy party - rent from them and you won't be disappointed. I tried on two dresses and felt like a princess. Co-founder and president Kristy was there with tips and to answer any questions.

Being out late and seeing my blogging friends was so nice. I love getting the chance to catch up in person. And the ladies from Blissdom are just so sweet, but don't talk to them if you don't want to go to their conference. They are very persuasive. Even though I won't be finding my bliss at the conference in Toronto, I got a taste of the good life that night.
