Father's Day, version 5.0

Happy Father's Day J!
The kids are getting better at keeping secrets. They managed to not tell J what we had planned for Father's Day. Little J was so excited about the rock he made at school that he even "hid it" beside his dad's bed Saturday night. Both kids were both super excited about the lego set we got for them to play with together. And everyone was excited to go for ice cream, but no one said a word.

I got up with the kids Sunday morning to let J sleep in. They ate only one pancake each before insisting it was time to wake up dad. We took him breakfast and gave him his presents in bed. Our morning was full of a running race (more on that later) and after lunch was a trip to the ice cream bar store (what the kids call Dairy Queen). We ended the evening with dinner with J's family. I hope that all adds up to a nice Father's Day, one where J gets some time to himself, lots of time with the kids, and knows how much we appreciate him.

Because we do. The kids just adore him and love to play with him. They want to be like him when they grow up. What's a better compliment than that. And I love how great he is with them and how he insists I go out to get time for myself.

I asked the kids some dad questions. Here's what they had to say:

What's your dad's name? J {They said his name.}
How old is he? 32
What is his job? To make money
What's his favourite colour? Black
What does he like to eat? Beer (Little J). Pancakes (Little K). {For the record, J isn't a lush!}
What's his favourite animal? I don't know (Little J). Penguin (Little K).
What does he do when he gets home? Goes to sleep
Who is your dad's best friend? Pike (Little J). You, mama (Little K).
How does dad smell? Good.
What's your favourite thing to do with your dad? Watch him autocross.
What does dad always say? "I have to go to work."
Is there anything you'd like to say to your dad? "Have a happy race day!" (Little J). "Happy birthday!" (Little K)

Aren't they cute? And here's some more cuteness in picture form. These were all taken in the past couple of months. J with his babies:

So happy Father's Day to J, and to my dad, and to J's dad, and to all the dads out there. I'm lucky to know some great ones.
