Wordless Wednesday and iPPP: Snowboarding

On the chairlift.

It just happened that J had a day off owed to him and his mom was available to come over to watch the kids. On Monday our snowboarding plans fell into place with a 2-for-1 deal at Mont Cascades.

It was a beautiful day - sunny and bright and not too cold. In fact, it was only chilly the last couple of minutes on the chairlift on the way up.

Taking a break before heading down.

We spent the first bit, after gearing up, on the bunny hill. Navigating the moving carpet and then trying to make my way down the hill without falling too much. Soon it was time to head up the chairlift and attempt to actually snowboard.

There was a lot of slow moving, the snowboarding equivalent of snowplowing or pizza, but eventually I got more comfortable and was able to string together turn after turn. I had some incredibly huge wipeouts and am left with so many sore muscles but no broken bones.

Going down the hill in what probably looked like very awkward boarding, felt great. I've been snowboarding a handful of times now, getting a bit better each time, and this time felt the best.

And being out with my best friend, not having to cook, feed, and clean up after my two charges, worrying only about myself and the big hill, was a big relief. It was the break I've been needing and the exercise that my body has been craving.

I don't know when we'll get out again and even if it'll happen before the snow melts, but those few hours up on the hill were pretty great.

  1. I'm not sure what some of that meant, but it sounds like fun (and hard work!). My husband loves skiing and we're planning to go at some point, but I'm a little scared. I'm glad you got that day together!
