Book 4/50: Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham

Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham was a fun book about a wannabe actress living in New York City in the 90s. Franny Banks is a loveable klutz who came to NYC to pursue an acting career but the deadline she gave herself to succeed is almost here. The book follows her through interviews and call backs, shifts at a waitressing job, and her relationships with family and friends.

There are so many little things in the book that come up over and over and make you really feel like you're reading about a friend instead of a character in a book, even if my life is nothing like Franny's. Though maybe it's because I kept picturing Lauren Graham as Franny and I wonder how much of this is autobiographical.

While reading you find yourself so curious what Franny is going to get up to next. Will she get the part she read for, will she find an agent, what about her waitressing job? You feel for her when money is tight and her deadline is approaching and she hasn't landed a job yet. You feel for her even more when her relationship falls apart, but then you celebrate her wins too.

It was a nice glimpse into the world of a struggling actress and a sweet story.

Up next: love anthony by Lisa Genova.

Like before, I used affiliate linking but feel free to Google the book instead of clicking. If you do click, thank you for supporting me and this blog!

  1. I really enjoyed her book - apparently she is writing another book! Apparently some of Franny's experiences were Lauren's as well - but some was pure fiction out of her head. Lauren is an incredibly talented artist!

    1. Write what you know is what I've always heard so I thought it must have been based somewhat on her experiences. Ooh, I'll look for it when it comes out!

  2. I liked the book. I had to read is as I LOVE Lauren Graham and I was impressed by how well she could write.
