My Simply Plan planner.

I don't know about you but I find myself paralyzed by all the options out there. It takes forever to research something enough to feel confident making a decision. I found this when booking our upcoming trip, when trying to choose a design for my doula website, and I don't want to tell you how long it took to pick out a planner for 2013.

I love how it lays flat.

I was thrilled when I came across Simply Plan. This Canadian company makes a beautiful planner, just one, with a simple yet elegant design. It's a hardcover, ringed planner, with a light blue cover. It has different coloured tabs for each month and has everything you need in a planner. In the front there's a spot for important info and then a year-at-a-glance for 2014 and 2015. At the beginning of each month is a monthly view and space for projects, goals, notes and a to-do list for the month. And just before each weekly view is a page for meal planning and one for a weekly budget. They've thought of everything.

Colourful tabs for each month.
In the back are a few more sections, namely Household, My Family, Goals, Keeping Track, Contacts, and Notes. I know already I will be writing down my projects and goals, using the gift tracking page, and the notes sections will likely be completely filled by the end of the year!

With this planner, I hope to be even more organized in 2014.We started meal planning two years ago when I started my leave-without-pay and I can tell you without a doubt that it has helped us so much. Some nights we still order pizza, but most nights are planned and pretty low stress. It really helped us get in a groove and I'm hoping the Simply Plan planner will help me take it up a notch. In 2014 I'd like to add new recipes and will be using the meal planning pages and the space for grocery lists too.

I have a feeling this planner is going to act not only as my planner, but as my notebook too, because it has room for everything. I'll use it for all my lists and never again will I have to try and remember where my lists are because they will all be in my beautiful planner

But this planner won't only be used for my family life. I'll be using it for my business too. I use an online calendar, but that isn't helpful when I'm meeting with clients, trying to set up appointment times. I need to know when my other clients are due and when I'm already set to be on-call.

This really is a great planner with so much space for everything you need to get organized. I'm excited to start filling it in as things come up, whether it's special dates for Little J's school, doula clients, meal ideas or long-term goals. Everything is going in my planner.

  1. We have a giant calendar on the wall in our kitchen, but it isn't a planner per se :)

  2. We have that same giant kitchen calendar, and I have another one in my office, plus a shared online calendar. I have yet to find my perfect system.

  3. I currently use an electronic planner, but there is just something about writing it out that helps me remember!

  4. I prefer pan and paper for most things. I don't mind electronic for some things though.

  7. Pen and Paper for sure! I do use iCalendar, but I write everything down in my planner

  8. Pen and Paper for me, something about the actual action of writing things down makes them stick better.

  9. I actually use both! Since I still suffer from "Baby Brain," I need to have both a physical and electronic copy to keep up with two kids under 3, a tween, my guy, and, of course, my busy schedule!

  10. I use my electronic calendar, but honestly find that handwritten lists help me remember them better.

  11. I prefer pen and paper however the electronic is nice too - as we can share/email things between my hubby and I easier.
