Vendredi

Walking to the bus stop together.

I hope you don't mind if I take it easy today and answer some NaBloPoMo writing prompts. This blogging every day thing is tiring and I definitely stayed up too late last night. You know what I was doing? Reading and learning about stamped jewellery. Really.

When the days get shorter and there's more darkness, I feel the urge to create, to make things. It used to be knitting and then scrapbooking and then freezer paper stencils. More recently it's been nothing, and I don't have time for another hobby, but my mind needs some sort of creative outlet that involves my hands.

Funny how that works.

Tell us about your first friend.
My first friend was my brother. He's 18 months younger than me and we did everything together until I started school. But my first friend friend that I remember was a girl from my kindergarten class who lived down the street. We were inseparable for years, but then started drifting apart. My family moved and I found some new friends. I still saw G until we went to different high schools. The drifting continued and she had her first baby at 16 and has 4 or 5 kids now. She's had a couple husbands, maybe 3. We are definitely different people but she was such a big part of my life that I still think about her from time to time.

Describe an outfit that makes you feel good. (It can be from any period of your life.)
Most of my sports uniforms used to make me feel good. Nothing like being young and incredibly fit and enjoying be out there playing your sport.

How important are book covers in getting you to read a book?
I hate to say it, but they are so important! I've picked up so many books from the library just based on the cover. I've decided to read them based on the descriptions, but picking them up in the first place was all about the cover. I've also put off reading books that friends have recommended because they don't look like something I'd enjoy. The one in particular I can think of recently is The Secret Keeper. Seriously, just look at that cover.

I almost didn't read it. It was good though, and even now looking at it, I wish they had picked something different.

How's that for a little Friday post? I hope you have a great weekend. I'm doing a breastfeeding workshop tomorrow morning (fulfilling part of my doula certification requirements), a birthday party in the afternoon, an interview Sunday, and a baby shower Sunday evening. Busy but with some downtime thrown in.. the best kind of weekend.

{That is an associate link so feel free to Google the title instead.}
