Subaru waves

car (Medium)
If a car could look threatening....

Our family car is a Subaru WRX. It's a 4-door hatch with some good power (J is cringing right now, but don't worry, I'm not going to get into specifics and mangle the entire thing). What I will say is that it's a fast car, but it's also safe and carries our babies around. We really like it.

The WRX is similar to the Impreza. You see lots of them on the road, but not so many WRXs, and so, when we do see one, we wave. It's a little thing that comes with driving the car. WRX drivers will wave at you. It took me a while to not feel like a huge dork waving to other cars, and now it feels kind of special.

I often wonder if there are other kinds of cars where drivers wave at each other. We used to drive a Mazda 3 (GREAT little car btw) and we'd wave to other 3s but it's because we often knew the person driving it. J was part of a car club (still is actually) and would even meet up with other 3 drivers. Serious.

Do you think it's crazy, the waving, or dorky, or a little fun? Jealous?

If you had to switch your first name, what name would you choose and why?

My first name is hard to pronounce if you first see it in writing, and hard to spell if you've only heard it, but people tend to either remember it forever or never get it right. For the longest time I wished my parents had just named me something typical: Jennifer, Sarah, Emily. But they didn't and I've come to love my name.

If I did have to switch I'd probably go with my middle name, which is more usual, or my shopping alter-ego Pam, that was assigned to me by a store clerk when I was out shopping once with my sister-in-law. She was given a different name too, Claudia, and we giggle about it every time we're at a mall together. Pam and Claudia!
