Wordless Wednesday and #iPPP: Why yes, there are holes in the wall

So we have this fireplace. A gas fireplace that hasn't been turned on in about 4 years. And it's huge. It takes up space in the living room and I just wish it wasn't there.

I was groaning about it to J's mom and she calmly said something to the effect of why don't you take it out? Ding!ding!ding! Why don't we take it out? Yes, why don't we. And why didn't I think of that?

I brought it up to J once I remembered (a couple of days after talking with his mom about it) and he was on board. Fully on board. Researching how to do it the next day on board. And was putting investigative holes in the wall a few days later.

He's smart though and put the holes behind a picture so you don't even know they're there except that I just told you.

I can't wait for our first home reno and J is happier than a pig in poop about having something project-y to do. Three cheers to having more functional space in our living room!

  1. Good luck with your project. Can't wait to see what it'll look like when you are done. I've always wanted a fire place with a mantle to decorate, especially for Christmas!

    1. I like the idea of decorating a mantel but I'm sure I'd never do it, or did it well at least!

  4. We never use our fireplace, either. (Maybe once in five years?)
It is fun to have a project to work on. Best of luck on it! :)

  6. Wow! My husband has a project to do and it takes him 6 months....until I decide to do it myself. :/ (Speaking of, there's a hole behind our recliner. Not in a good picture spot. It may be there forever.)

    Have fun project-ing!
