Reading: My lovely sister in law lent me the second and third Fifty Shades books last Friday. I just finished the second and am taking a break to read Mindy Kaling's Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? I find the 50 Shades books are pretty repetitive so having a break between books is a good thing.

Watching: The only show I've been watching lately is So You Think You Can Dance. Anyone else love a good dancing show like I do? Sometimes I tune out the judges comments but I love the dancing. I love getting to know the dancers and trying to guess the choreographer of the opening number. Part of me wishes I could dance.

Thinking about: Little J's upcoming birthday. My little man is turning 3 in a little over a week and is getting very excited about his party. This is what he tells us he wants: a car carrier, pink, purple and orange balloons, a race car cake, more bubble juice, and to play with his friends. Too bad he already found the play kitchen we got him for his birthday. I guess he's getting a car carrier and bubbles.

Surprised by: How unaware and/or ignorant people can be. I was running the other day along the sidewalk and came up to a couple walking towards me. They were taking up the whole sidewalk and didn't even make an attempt to squeeze together so I could stay on the sidewalk too. It struck me as odd. I've been doing and out-and-back route so when I came across them again, this time coming up behind them, I didn't expect them to move and they didn't. This couple also got me thinking about kids and how so often they are completely unaware of the people around them and their surroundings. How else can you explain how often Baby K walks into walls? You can't.

Anticipating: Our last summer cottage weekend. I'm looking forward to being out of the house, to seeing the kids playing in the sand and swimming in the lake, and enjoying the beautiful weather we should be getting. But then I'm also anticipating the coming fall: cooler weather, jeans and sweatpants, hoodies and scarves, and falling leaves.

Loving: Doing things for myself, by myself. My friend SB told me a while back that her middle son drew a picture of their family. He drew a guitar for dad and stuff for himself and his older brother. Above his mom he drew a question mark because she doesn't do anything. Her story broke my heart and made me realize that if Little J could draw he would have drawn the same thing. Little J, and Baby K now too, talk about how dad goes and races the car and how he goes to work. Now they say that mom goes out with her friends, she goes to yoga, she goes running. I do things! I have friends! I am not a question mark anymore. I can't tell you how much I love that.

Thanks as always to Dani Hampton of Sometimes Sweet for the inspiration for the post. If you do a currently post of your own let me know!
