12 months = ONE YEAR!

_MG_6557.CR2 (Medium)

My baby girl is a year old! I have two toddlers now instead of a toddler and a baby.

I went back and read Little J's 12 month update and laughed at how similar him and Baby K are. They seem to be hitting milestones about the same time and figuring things out at the same time too. The biggest differences so far are that Baby K started walking sooner than Little J and he had more hair and more teeth at this point than she does. Interesting.

Baby K has recently developed a love of stuffed animals and loves her two bears and her brother's and dad's bears too. She loves to play with Little J's Mr. Potato Head, magnets on the fridge, her rubber toothbrush and a blue rocking toy at playgroup. She started hitting Little J back and intentionally takes something of his and runs away. It looks like she wants him to chase her, but she'll get mad if he does and takes back whatever toy she took.

Baby K is a walking pro and is running these days. She loves to climb which has gotten her in trouble a few times. She just started walking backwards and has a new dance that is very aggressive looking... we call it her krumping. She can sort some blocks and is really proud when she gets it.

Baby K eats almost everything we give her, the exceptions being orange slices and egg. She doesn't get baby cereal anymore and went through a stage where she was all about yogurt. Lately she won't let you spoon feed her though so yogurt is a messy affair that I shy away from. She is drinking homo milk during the day and nursing at night. I stopped nursing her during the day because she was biting me so often. I went to a La Leche League meeting to see if they had any advice on getting her to stop biting. They didn't tell me anything I hadn't already tried, but I was happy to find a very inclusive laid-back group of women and a kid-friendly atmosphere at the meeting.

I just added this heading because I think we'll be needing it soon. Baby K's babbling has definitely changed in the past month. She still doesn't say any words but she has a lot more sounds and is putting sounds together.

I thought for sure Baby K would be down to one nap a day by now and some days that's true, but she's still in the transition phase where she is happiest when she naps twice, but can survive on one nap. She still nurses to sleep or gets bounced in the bouncer (thankfully she's small enough that she still fits in it!) or sleeps in the car. Someday she'll learn to fall asleep on her own. Generally she gets up between 7 and 7:30 in the morning, naps 2-3 hours during the day and goes to bed between 7:30 and 8pm. Because I'm not nursing her during the day anymore she's been waking a lot at night. I'm hoping this changes soon because it's tiring.

My little baby girl. We just had her appointment and I was told to fatten her up. She's 18 pounds 5 ounces and just about 30 inches long. She has hardly any hair, the same two teeth and is wearing 12-18 and 18-24month clothing. We haven't had to change the snap setting on her cloth diapers yet and I'm not sure how.

This was my birthday month and I made a list of things to do. I didn't do everything but I did get out snowboarding one morning with J. It was so nice to be out, especially mid-week, but I hurt my arm and haven't been to yoga since. Hmm.
