2011 - A Year in Review

Let's look back on the year, shall we?

JANUARY came. Little J was 16 months old and I was 8 months pregnant. I celebrated turning 30 and worked my last month before going on maternity leave.

The first half of FEBRUARY was relaxing for me as I slept while J was at work and Little J was at daycare. Then Baby K decided she was ready and flew into the world faster than anyone imagined and landed in J's hands on our bed. J started his parental leave but Little J kept going to daycare. We got used to life as a family of 4.

Not much happened in
MARCH that wasn't baby related. J was still on leave and Little J was still in daycare.

APRIL got a little more exciting when we enrolled Little J in gymnastics thinking it would be perfect for him. We didn't take into account how much Little J hates following instruction. We also did a two-week trial of cloth diapers and our journey into "fluff" started.

MAY was when we fully stepped into the cloth diapering world. We also had some fun celebrating R&S's wedding and my second Mother's Day. We bought a fancy new double stroller just in time to take Little J out of daycare. J was back to work.

JUNE wasn't a big month but we did celebrate J's second Father's Day.

JULY started with Canada Day celebrations complete with balloons and firetrucks. We went up to the cottage for almost a week.

In AUGUST I went to a coworker's wedding solo and had to race home because Baby K was not a happy camper. Thankfully J&D's wedding went much smoother. Baby K turned 6 months so we started her on solids. We had fun seeing all the animals at the Experimental Farm.

My baby boy turned 2 in SEPTEMBER and we had a big party for him. He was spoiled. J turned the big 3-0 but was less spoiled. I took a night off and painted a mug with SH and am quite pleased with how it turned out.

OCTOBER was a month full of outings. We went and saw the butterflies, we saw the animals and played on the impressive playground at Valleyview Farm, and we saw the plains, trains and automobiles at the Science and Tech museum. We celebrated Thanksgiving and went to pick out pumpkins before Halloween.

NOVEMBER brought more weddings (S&D and T&P, both baseball girls) and a funeral (LS, one of my best friends growing up). We spent a chilly morning at the Experimental Farm where Little J made his peace with the goats and conquered the play structure.

DECEMBER was strange in that we didn't have any snow until the end. I hosted my 7th annual cookie exchange but changed it up to include kids this year. And we just made it through Christmas and all the planning and get togethers and presents and fun. Baby K had a great first Christmas.

And now it's a few hours before the new year and I'm happy to report my two little ones are fast asleep. My belly is full of pizza and cheese cake and I may or may not be up to see the calendar switch from 2011 to 2012. I'm going to go think of what I want my 2012 to be. Happy New Year to you all!
