Parenting

Yesterday was my first day home with Baby K and Little J. I was excited and worried. I've been home with them by myself before but not often and definitely not for any length of time.

Yesterday wasn't a typical day though. We had to head out in the morning with J's family. I managed to get us out the door on time and not forget anything. Going out is one thing, but having to look presentable enough to have our picture taken was another. Thankfully J's family helped me out. Too bad Little J was either being shy or having a tantrum. I'm sure the pictures turned out great.

I was interested to see how Little J would be like with his dad. J has been the one getting Little J up in the morning so when I went in he asked "Dada go?" meaning where's my dad? I told him that his dad went to work and he threw himself on the bed and wouldn't get up. Great start to the day.

When we had to drop J back off at work after the pictures, some tears were shed when we drove off without him. The worst part was that, with both babies asleep in the car on the way home, we got rear-ended. It wasn't major and I didn't even get the guy's information because there was no damage, but I was shaken up. And because it was way before Little J's regular nap time the rest of the day was screwed up. But we made it and now we're on to day 2.

Today is more like a regular day but not quite because J didn't have to go into work at his regular time. He had time to make and eat breakfast with us. Even so, by 8:30am both babies were screaming and I was wondering how I was going to survive until 4pm.

Right this minute, they're both sleeping. We're surviving. I'm doing this!

  1. I'm sure you'll get used to it. Although there are days when my three are all screaming and I put myself in time out. But it's fun and once Little J gets used to it I am sure he'll react a bit better in the morning!
