Which team?

This is no Team Edward or Team Jacob here. This is Team BLUE or Team PINK. Everyone having a baby wonders if it's a boy or a girl. They wonder if they'll be surrounded by all things blue or pink, pink everywhere. I'm no different. I want to know.

Check that, I wanted to know. I know now. We had our ultrasound Monday afternoon. I was all remember-y and drank some orange juice before so Baby #2 would be bouncing around everywhere, which is possibly annoying for the tech who is trying to take all sorts of measurements, but almost guarantees we'll get a glimpse of the goods.

It worked. We had a shot of the bum with the legs splayed open and didn't see any boy bits. People, we have a little GIRL in there!

It was so unlike the ultrasound with Baby J when I was convinced I was having a girl and in total shock when the tech showed us boy parts and then blatantly told us what we were looking at because we couldn't tell. I was so surprised. This time I knew not to trust whatever instinct I had, not that I had any beyond a few dreams about twins early on, and went in just hoping to find out.

So it wasn't a big relief or a big let down. It was just another piece of the puzzle that is this little baby growing inside of me. This little baby girl.

Now that I've had some time to get used to the idea and heard J say "she" over and over when telling our families the news, it's real. I'm having a girl and I'm excited!

I think Baby J will be an awesome big brother and Baby #2 will be the prettiest girl dressed all in blue.

Go Team PINK!

  4. Congratulations! Our son and daughter are 21 months apart and it's been a blast so far :) I had no idea how different parenting a daughter would be until she was born - and I love it!
