A week late, but Baby J is 11 months old

Talk about a busy weekend last weekend and then we spent most of the week recovering. Either way, Baby J hit the 11 month mark last Sunday. One month away from his first birthday.

His eleventh month wasn't a big one for milestones or any other developmental changes, but was huge in terms of day to day life. As you all know, my maternity leave ended and I went back to work. Baby J started daycare. I've blogged about it and how it was tough but he's doing so well. He adapted really quickly and you can see that he really likes it there.

Baby J got a cold, which was totally expected. I took him to a walk-in clinic when it didn't get better and he was radiating heat. Poor guy had an ear infection on top of the cold. He reacted to the first kind of drugs but did fine on the second (for the record, a non-allergic reaction to Amoxicillin and no reaction to Biaxin) but is now fine.

Daycare has taught him how to hold his own bottle, how to drink from a sippy cup by himself and how to get down from the couch. An important skill when you can get up on the couch. His dancing has changed - he used to be a bouncer, bopping along to the music, but now he does more of a swaying motion. It's more groovy than boppy and quite cute.

He can now clap without crying and is a master walker. He's moved from napping twice a day to napping just once and will go to bed earlier most nights than ever before. He's had some injuries, mostly from closing cupboards or drawers on his fingers. Twice he drew blood.

He eats solids during the day now and I think a lot of that has to do with being around other kids eating at the same time. Same with the sippy cup thing - all the other kids are doing it. He has 6 teeth now: the middle bottom ones, the middle top ones and the next tops ones are just poking through. He makes this funny tuka-tuka-tuka sound these days that sounded a lot like the Hebrew singing at the wedding last weekend. He's more attached to his bear than ever and carries him everywhere. Poor bear is going to get a bath soon.

None of his stats have changed this month: still wearing size 3 diapers and 6-9 month clothing. He got weighed when he was sick and was just over 18 pounds. I'm guessing he's close to 30 inches long but have to wait until his appointment next month to find out for sure. He'll get weighed and measured, get his shots and maybe some cake. Birthday party planning is in full swing! Because we were so busy, I didn't get a picture of him with his bear (fail at record keeping).

  1. 11 months already! Sounds like he's learning lots at daycare!
