Smurfs

When I was growing up there were shows we were not allowed to watch. My brother and I never saw an episode of the Smurfs or Mr. Roger's Neighbourhood. My mom told us that it was because she couldn't stand them. Being a mom myself, I can finally understand her reasoning. If I have to hear Baby J's Monkey Ball toy one more time....

Even without watching certain shows, you get to know them through your friends. You see 5 minutes here or 10 minutes there or maybe are even lucky to see a whole episode while at a sleepover.

And I'm sure, if you're a child of the 80s like me, you've seen those email forwards that go around, reminding us of all the crap we used to watch/do/play with (the Smurfs/make dances to Alanis Morissette songs/skip-its).

So I didn't bat an eyelash when I came home from having a lovely pedicure and J told me he liked my "Smurf Toes". I'm not a girly girl and the idea of having red or pink toes doesn't appeal to me. What appeals to me is a dark purple or, in this case, shimmering blue. I am very pleased with my smurf toes. Just call me Smurfette.. wasn't that the only girl smurf? (I had to Google it and it is.)

  1. I loved the Smurfs...but I my mum did too so she liked to watch it with me. There are definately some shows that I won't let me kids watch because they are just to weird and I can't stand them!

  2. Call me biased, but the kids shows from the 70s and 80s are MUCH better than the crap on TV nowadays! It's unfortunate there isn't better selection now for children.
