My first Mother's Day

Sunday was my first Mother's Day. I always thought I'd be here someday and now I am.

It started out early with me getting up with Baby J. That was a little strange because normally J gets up with the baby on the weekends. I grumbled in my sleepy head while feeding him but once I woke up fully I was good to go.

We did our normal morning thing - eating, playing, bottle washing, formula making, eye rubbing, yawning and finally napping. Him napping meant I could make myself pancakes. And I did and they were great.

Once J was up and showered and Baby J was awake from his nap, we went to see my parents. It seemed like my mom liked the plants we brought her and we did our regular book exchange. We rounded out the day with dinner with J's parents. J's mom liked the organizer thingy we got her.

And for me, Baby J got two Tubby's - colourful, pliable, buckets - that are now filled with his toys and J got me a cute turtle to go in the backyard. I will find him a good home once it warms up a little.

At my baby shower last summer someone wrote on a card "Welcome to the club." It's true - being a mom is like being a part of a huge club. So happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. If it was your first like me, you probably realized that even if it's your day, you don't get a break. And that's what it means to be a mom.

  1. That's a great day, my friend. Time for yourself and visits with the Grandmothers. Well done!

    Picture of the turtle, please!

    lol, eyerubs! "You. Nap, now."

  2. Happy Mother's Day!! we go to church every Sunday and when it's Mother's Day the kids all seem particular's like they know they should be well behaved and act out instead!

  3. Sooo true, there is no rest for the weary! I like the turtle by the way.
