Snowboarding | The Life of K: Snowboarding

The plan was to go snowboarding last Friday night. We were going to drop Baby J off with J's parents and head to the hill. Turns out getting an instructor on a Friday night is next to impossible so we opted for a date night instead.

We dropped off the baby and went for dinner then public skating and then some shopping. Not exactly a romantic date night, but time just the two of us. It was nice and Baby J was good for J's parents.

We decided we'd try again Saturday. We were told that instructors would be at the hill and to just show up. We got to Camp Fortune mid afternoon only to be told that all the instructors had left. A little bummed, we decided we were there so we'd try J teaching me and vowed not to get frustrated with each other. After some more confusion we left Fortune and headed to Mont Cascades across the river.

Mont Cascades is where J has a season's pass and can ski "for free" (already paid for the pass). We got there and got me a rental and a lift ticket. The instructors were all on the hill but we could check back later.

We decided to go for it and hit the bunny hill. And it worked! With minimal coaching from J I could get down the hill. I'm not saying I didn't fall a million times, but I was getting it. After a while on the bunny hill, the lifts were shut down so we headed up on the big chair lift.

I made it down the mountain once and then we called it a day. I'm banged up and sore, but had a great time. Snowboarding seems so natural and I wish I could go again this season while it's still fresh, but that likely won't happen with the warm weather we've been having.

In conclusion, we had a great time, I didn't break any bones and our relationship survived. Success!

  1. Glad you were able to have a date night and a snowboarding adventure! I've never tried it before and haven't skiied in a million years!

  2. I think a lot of it comes down to core strength. Preggos should not be snowboarding!
