Half a year

My baby is half a year old today. I know it's cliche to say, but time flies. Baby J started off as a crying, sleeping blob of a baby and is now a smiling, happy, rolling, hand-chewing, giggly little person.

Last night while drafting this post, my boys were sitting together on the couch, J watching tv, Baby J shoving his feet in his mouth. He stops to look over at his dad, a smile erupts on his face, a little giggle bursts out, and the foot goes in again.

You should see how excited he gets when J gets home from work. He's all smiles and excited baby wiggles.

Baby J is small for his age, last week we even met a baby half his age who weighed more, but he's healthy. He has chubby cheeks and thick thighs and the chubbiest wrists you've ever seen. He prefers to be standing but is learning to sit. He grabs everything close to him and pulls and pulls.

He loves having his hair brushed and giggles when watching a signing DVD. He'll happily jump in his exersaucer for hours if you let him. He's beginning to learn about food, how it feels and tastes. He'll sit there licking a piece of brocolli for an entire meal.

Being on his stomach isn't the ordeal it once was and he routinely flips from his back to his stomach now. Naptime involves re-flipping him at least once but usually twice. He now naps in his crib twice, sometimes three times a day.

And now for his stats: he weighed in at 15 pounds 14 ounces, he is almost 27 inches long and has a big head. He had his shots today and cried, but not for long. The doctor didn't say he was really white like last time.. this time, it was that he's really strong. That's my boy!
