The hair makes the woman

"The hair makes the woman" - I think that's the first time I've called myself a woman. I just don't feel like one. Never have. I think of myself as a girl. Your interesting fact for the day.

Tuesday I went and got my hair cut. I hadn't been since August because, you know, life got in the way. It wasn't a big deal because I spend most of my time at home in sweats with my hair up. But for those times that I want to dress up (i.e. put on a pair of jeans) and leave the house, my hair was a disaster. I normally just kept it up and hoped everyone was too busy looking at my baby to look at me. It probably worked.

Either way, it was time to get myself cleaned up. I went to see the lovely M. She's been cutting my hair for years and so I had J come with me so I could show her Baby J. Again, all smiles with the ladies. Atta boy!

We had a good chat and now my hair is shorter and lighter (feeling, not in colour) and I'm interested to see what it looks like when I have to style it myself. It's never the same as when she does it.

There's something so nice about doing something to make myself look good. I don't want to be known as Baby J's mom and I don't want to let myself go just because I had a kid. That doesn't mean that I won't be wearing sweats most days. It means that when I want to, I can clean up and look good. Every mom deserves that.

  1. There is nothing better then the "just out of the salon" feeling. I used to be in my salon in my hometown every months, getting something done, but since I moved to AB...once every 6-8 months (when I go home to visit) I just don't trust anyone here..lol. Ugh...let's just say I haven't been looking my best haha
