2009 - A Year in Review

I'm sure posts likes this are happening all over the blogosphere. So why not here too? So much happened this year and I'd like to remember the highlights of 2009.

January we took a trip to Mexico. It was a 5star resort in the Mayan Riviera and worth every penny since it was our last trip before baby. At least that was the plan. Then I turned a year older, marching ever closer to the big 3-0.

February wasn't very eventful. We celebrated some birthdays and tried to make our house more a home. J upped his nerd factor and got glasses and I channeled my inner 15-year-old and saw the So You Think You Can Dance live show.

March marked my third month of pregnancy. The time when it's OK to tell everyone. For some reason, J wanted to wait. Possibly because I was thinking of a new job, possibly because he was too. We spent most of the month trying to hide my expanding mid section and coming up with reasons why I was exhausted all the time.

April. Finally we can tell people! We did a joint announcement on Facebook on the 1st, which was fun. I had people months later, still unsure whether I was a human incubator. I was going to the gym and running and enjoying the warmer weather and feeling better.

May was a pretty busy month. We got in with the midwives instead of an OB, which was such a relief. I ran for the last time - my body unable to handle the pain. J and I walked the 5K race and he ran his first half marathon. I mourned my Flickr account that expired and tried to learn Picasa.

June J and I took a weekend trip to Quebec City. We stayed at a fancy hotel and walked around in the rain, marveling over my growing belly. I had my first pedicure and decided to start my mat leave early. I struggled with what would have been my due date had I not miscarried early in the fall.

July marked our 5 year wedding anniversary. We had a huge party and also celebrated me starting my mat leave and my boss's demotion. We went and saw Green Day in concert and went to the cottage for the first time. We started our prenatal classes and I started swimming. I hopped on the Twilight bandwagon and read the books.

August long weekend was J's family's reunion weekend so we spent 5 days at the cottage playing games and eating food and having a good time. L had her baby and I did a maternity photoshoot with A. I missed a bunch of weddings and got sick of being huge and uncomfortable and pregnant.

Obviously the big news in
September was having Baby J. If I didn't have so many pictures from this month, I wouldn't remember a thing. It was sleepless and crazy and intense but really really great.

October we took our first overnight trip as a family. We went to J's cousin's wedding in Kingston. It went really well. I started Salsa Babies with L and tried to get more exercise in general. J and Baby J were a big hit on Halloween dressed up as Beeker from the Muppets and Charlie Brown.

November we started doing some of the things we used to do: going out for pho and going on walks with our friends. It was really nice to regain some of our old live. J also went back to work after being home with me for just over 2 months.

That brings us to
December. It's been a crazy month. Baby J is growing and thriving and getting so smart. Christmas was a good time and who knows what the new year will bring.

Farewell 2009. That was fun.
